Passing from the upper church through the right wing of the transept, one comes to a room of sacro Speco, called Garden of the Ravens on account of the ravens kept there in memory of the important part played by them in some episodes of St. Benedict's life.
The statue of St. Benedict who in a gesture of paternal protection has his arm outstretched towards the rugged rock of Talèo above the shrine was built during last century.
Below the statue is written "Stay there, o rock, and don't hurt my sons".
